Common Dreams

While dreams vary from person to person, there are a few universal elements of dreams that can almost always be interpreted in the same way. These elements tend to be recurring elements in your dream. Have you ever had repetitive dreams? If so, your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

To find out about some of the world's most common dreams and their meanings, take a look at the list of common dreams below:

Nudity

Being naked in your dreams can indicate a few different things depending on the context of your dream. If you are naked in your dream, you are most likely feeling vulnerable for some reason. Being naked is the most vulnerable feeling because you are completely exposing yourself, something that nobody does unless they are in an intimate situation. However, the key to unraveling this dream is to focus on how you felt while you were naked. If you felt happy or had some positive feeling and were with somebody else, you most likely feel closer to that person. If you were by yourself, you probably felt free. If you felt scared or anxious or embarrassed, you fear a repercussion of something or you fear being exposed in some light. Perhaps you are scared of someone finding out a secret and the impact it may have on their opinion of you.

Teeth

Seeing your teeth in your dream can indicate feelings related to anxiousness. Oftentimes, dreams about your teeth will seem overbearing if experienced in a traumatic way. If your teeth are falling out, you could be feeling nervous about how people are perceiving you or have a deep-seated fear about your self security. Maybe you are feeling inferior in a specific relationship or have recently felt a lack of communication between you and someone else. You could also be feeling powerless if you are without any of your teeth; maybe you are having trouble getting an important message across to somebody. Since teeth are vital aspects of the mouth and work in conjunction with the rest of our bodies when communicating with others, dreams involving teeth can usually be interpreted to symbolize your current fears in communicating with others or fears of perceptions that others have of you and your appearance.

Being Chased

In dreams where you are being chased, you are most likely trying to run away from something. In the dream you are literally trying to escape whatever it is that is coming after you, and you feel overwhelmed and frightened at the same time. However, the problem that you are trying to avoid is not one that will just go away. This dream involves your subconscious telling you that the problem will continue to bother you and "chase" you until you face it.

Falling

In this type of dream you are falling from something, whether it be a building, a cliff, or a even a bridge. When a person falls, they lack complete control over their bodies and surroundings. You can't control where you will land or end up. If you are dreaming of falling, you are probably experiencing a loss of control in some aspect of your life. Falling in your dream can also represent feelings of insecurity or your awareness of some recently made bad decisions.

Cheating

The presence of a cheater in your dream can point towards positive or negative subconscious feelings. If you are dreaming about being cheated on, you are most likely feeling neglected or you are starting to actually suspect that your partner is cheating on you. While in most cases your partner may not actually be cheating on you, the trust that you have with them is spiraling downwards for some reason.  In another sense, you can be experiencing low self-esteem and have a fear of abandonment or feel that you are an unworthy partner. On the other hand, cheating on your partner in your dream can mean two separate things. In an obvious interpretation, your dream can mean that you are not being satisfied by your partner and long for more, maybe even someone else. If you are cheating, you could be feeling self-guilt about some situation of dishonesty that has happened. If you cheated on your partner and felt nothing but positive feelings and passion, then perhaps you have reached a new level with your lover, and you feel more sexually attached to them than you have previously or you are feeling renewed flames towards your partner.

Flying

Another common dream that many people have involves flying. When experiencing this dream, you are most likely going through some sort of positive change. Maybe you have gained control of and conquered a specific task. Perhaps you have recently gotten more in touch with yourself and you now have a renewed sense of self or you feel more positively about yourself in general. Flying dreams can also represent freedom. Maybe you feel free and hopeful for the future. On the other hand, flying can also symbolize invincibility.
